    I just bought Newsy and I noticed that it runs very slowly in Internet Explorer 11. The gallery carousels mostly don’t work. They launch but advancing slides mostly doesn’t work or extremely slow.

    It runs better in Firefox 27.

    Hello,

    I didn’t find anything at the link pertinent to my problem. I’m currently at my office where our IT dept. has not upgraded yet from IE 8 and will not upgrade FireFox from vers. 17.0.8.0.

    The gallery carousel launches in IE 8 (which I won’t be using on my home computer). However, it’s too blurred to read and the slides are shifted over to the far left. I can advance them, though.

    It barely launched in IE 11 on my home computer last night and was essentially stuck, giving a “…page not responding” error message.

    The link is pertinent because it will tell me if you’re having trouble loading any gallery or just the ones on your blog. Would you mind trying it for me?

    Could you please give me a link to one of the galleries on your site so I can do some further testing in IE11? Thanks.

    I tested http://thepracticalpsychosomaticist.com/ and I found that it loads slowly in my Firefox browser without even finding a gallery to look at. I think it’s loading slowly because you’ve added too many things to the home page all at once:

    You can fix the loading speed problem by:

    – reducing the number of widgets

    – reducing the number of images

    – reducing the number of posts displayed on the front page, under Settings > Reading

    If you try some of those updates, I bet you’ll see some really nice improvements on speed!

    Another thing to try is reducing the size of some of your larger images. For example, the images with the little girl are weighing in at 1.2MB and are 1650px x 1238px in dimension. In general, we recommend that images being uploaded are no more than 1000px in width and then optimized to where they come out at 100k in size, or less. One of my colleagues used an image-compression program to reduce the same image to just 89K.

    I am such a geezer and I’m so sorry I misunderstood you about trying the gallery at the link you provided. I tried it on my work computer and the old FireFox seems to load the galleries at the link just fine.

    But I’m sure you’re right about my overloading the home page and I’m going to clean up my act just as you suggest.

    Thanks for the link to one of your galleries. A colleague of mine tested this gallery in IE11 and it loaded quickly and worked fine on his machine – he was able to scroll through the images normally.

    Let me know how it goes after you trim things down and see if that helps the galleries as well. Thanks!
