Pagination as opposed to loading more posts

Hi,
I was wondering if there is any way to paginate the “load more posts” in the footer of the blog as opposed to infinitely loading posts. The reason for this is so the blog is read similarly to a journal, consistently retaining two columns and not merging into a single column after “loading more posts”.

In conjunction with this is there a way in which to reduce the white space between the repeated site title and “load more posts?”
