    Hi there,

I noticed you recently changed the interface for adding media. Since then, I can’t find any option to insert a slideshow. Does this feature still exist? If so, how do I insert a slideshow now?

    Thank you!

Hi Ruby. The feature does indeed still exist. Please see this blog post for more information. Cheers.

Thank you! That’s a huge help.

Another question regarding the slideshow – I’m trying to adjust the size of some of the photos in it. When I’m in “Edit Gallery”, I see that when I select a photo I can choose “Edit Image” and change the scale of the image there. Though it says “image is saved” after I’ve edited the size, it doesn’t seem to update it.

    Please advise. Thank you!

Hi Ruby. Please give me specific information about which image you’re attempting to edit, and also which post/slideshow you are trying to change so that I can try to figure out what’s going on. Thank you.

    Hi there,

    So the post is: http://almanacofstyle.com/2012/12/18/explore-east-austin/

You should be able to clearly see which photos in the slideshow are smaller than others. It looks like the full size ones are 1620 x 1080 so I’d like to adjust all of them to be this size, e.g. Hillside Farmacy, Domy Books, Heywood Hotel, etc.

I’m hoping this can be fixed today so I can post this, as it’s been delayed several days because of the slideshow issue already. Thank you so much, I really appreciate your help!

    Hi again,

As an FYI, I went ahead and posted it as I didn’t want to wait much longer. I just removed those photos from the slideshow for now, but you can still find them in my media library. It should just be the 3 photos I mentioned earlier.

    Thanks!

Hi Ruby. Forgive me for not responding before you published your post (which is beautiful, by the way). I’ve taken a look at your Media Library and this is what I see:

    1. Hillside Farmacy looks like it’s a “broken” image: http://almanacofstyle.com/2012/12/18/explore-east-austin/hillside-farmacy_evan-prince_sophia/.

    2. Domy Books looks broken: http://almanacofstyle.com/2012/12/18/explore-east-austin/domy_myloveforyou-typepad-com/.

    3. Heywood Hotel looks fine: http://almanacofstyle.com/2012/12/18/explore-east-austin/heywood-hotel/, but the actual image looks pretty small: http://almanacofstyle.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/heywood-hotel.jpg.

For the first two images, I suggest re-uploading them to make sure that something weird didn’t happen during your first upload. For the last image try a larger image.

I just cycled through the slideshow and it looks fine, but if you insert one of the images and it comes up small again, please let me know and I will look as soon as possible.

    Hi there!

    Thanks for the compliment. :)

So somehow the first 2 images were broken after I tried to edit the proportions. I re-uploaded them, and it seems okay now, but not sure why that happened.

In the past, I’ve been able to rescale images that happen to be smaller so that they fill out the black box and were more in line with the larger ones. Is that no longer possible?

    Thanks,

    Ruby

Hi Ruby. Can you describe how you’ve been able to rescale them in the past? I want to make sure I’m understanding the steps you’re taking or are no longer able to take to get the images you want. Thanks.

    Hi Phillip,

They are pretty much the exact same steps I described above. Once I’ve created my gallery:

    1) I select the image I want to rescale

    2) Click on “Edit Image” in the Gallery Settings box

    3) A new window opens that takes me to “Edit Media” and I click on “Scale Image”

    4) There, I manually type in the dimensions I want and click on “Scale”

    5) Then it automatically saves the image

    6) I click “Update” (which I don’t believe I had to do this before)

In the past, the dimensions would automatically update after it saves, but nothing happens now – they remain the same.

    Hi Ruby.

I have created a video which shows you how I go about scaling down images: http://p-am.net/grabs/scaling-down-an-image-in-35.mov.

Can you give this a shot and let me know how it goes?

These are the notes from the video.

    1. I’m uploading a fairly large image at 2448 x 3264, so I’m waiting for a bit to make sure that it uploads (wonky, slightly, in Chrome).

    2. When it’s done, I click Edit.

    3. When the Edit page loads, I then click on “Edit Image”.

    4. I want to scale this image down 50%, so I’m going to enter 1224 into the scale down box.

    5. I click “Scale”.

    6. I see the message “Image saved”.

    7. When this is done, I will click on “View Attachment Page”.

    8. Hopefully, I will see an image with the right dimensions.

    9. Voila. The image is now at 1224 x 1632.

    Hope that helps.
