    Hello,
    I’d like to change the colours on my blog, but I like the images within the blog to have a black border (like they currently do). It looks like though, that that border colour always matches the background colour. Is there a way to change this? E.g. Can I make my background yellow but have the borders on any media within my posts still black?
    Thanks heaps in advance for your assistance :)

    P.S. If the answer involves CSS, I am no expert on this so you’ll have to spell it all out for me. Cheers!

    The blog I need help with is iquittv.com

    Hi there, I’d be glad to help with this.

    Do you want to go ahead and change your colour scheme and then I can help you revert the image borders to black? I think it would be easiest to do it in that order. Let me know!

    Thanks Kathryn,

    I’ve changed it now. Is it possible to make the borders a little thiner also? I understand that it can only go so thin on the bottom because of the text, but something thinner?

    Cheers.

    I have another couple of questions as well (just let me know if you’d prefer these as separate posts):

    How do I just display post summaries on the home page, including the image? I’ve found the ‘more’ tag but wondered if there was a way to always include the image (or even better, a thumbnail of the image) with the summary?

    Also, if I edit my posts (e.g. adding the more tag, fixing the borders etc), does it keep sending notifications to whoever is following me or subscribing to my feed? And if it does, how do I stop this from happening?

    Thanks again. :)

    To change the background colour of your captioned images, add this custom CSS under Appearance > Customize > CSS:

    .wp-caption {
    background-color: #000 !important;
    }

    The width on your captioned image borders is set through margins. To make it thinner, add one new line to the above CSS so it becomes:

    .wp-caption {
    background-color: #000 !important;
    margin-bottom: 1.0em;
    }

    And also add this:

    .wp-caption .wp-caption-text {
    margin: 0.7em 0;
    }

    You can modify the amount of em spacing as you like.

    I have another couple of questions as well (just let me know if you’d prefer these as separate posts):

    In future, it would be great if you could post new questions in new threads, but I’ll answer these here for you now. :-)

    The simplest way to do this would be to put the More tag after your inserted image. Everything up to the More tag will be displayed on the blog index page, including any images you’ve inserted.

    It’s not possible to display one size of the image on the blog page and another on the single post view in this theme.

    No, it only sends one notification when the post is first published, not when updates are made after publication.
