Hey, I asked this question 2 weeks ago, but didn’t seem to get any response. So hoping for some luck this time: how can i change layout in Funki theme for 2 columns on the main page? (not widgets, i already have left and right – side widgets, but want to have 2 columns with in between them).
Would be super grateful for the response! Thanks! The blog I need help with is littlehedonist.comNovember 7, 2013 at 7:24 pm #142761

Hi there, the only other question I see from you here is this one, which didn’t mention columns:
You can view all your threads here: http://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/profile/littlehedonist
Funki does not have a two-column layout option, but you can always create columns manually within a post or a page.
You can do it by switching to Text view (not the Visual Editor) and placing your content into two divs like this:
<div class="col1">Your first column here</div>
<div class="col2">Your second column here</div>
You’d then add something like this to your custom CSS:
You can also add the CSS inline on each div if you don’t have the Custom Design upgrade, but you’ll have to repeat it on each post or page.
<div style="float: left; width: 45%;">Your first column here</div>
<div style="float: right; width: 45%;">Your second column here</div>
Just let me know if you need further help.November 7, 2013 at 10:02 pm #142772
Hey Kathryn, thank you for your response.
Hm, I checked the Funki theme demo before i bought it here: http://themify.me/demo/#theme=funki and in layout tab you can easily change the layout into 2, 3 or 4 columns. What do you mean then that it doesnt have a 2-column option?
My intent is to divide the main page into 2 columns where some posts will be displayed in the left one and some in the right one. The html modification seems to be working only for particular posts where you can switch to “Text” option, or unless I don’t know where to switch to Text option to modify the whole page. Would be really grateful if you could explain where do i modify the CSS of the page without additional fees.
Thank you so much for your help!November 7, 2013 at 10:28 pm #142774

The Funki theme you see at Themify is actually only meant for sites that run the WordPress software on a self-hosted installation. Sorry for any confusion there. When we bring themes over to WordPress.com we often make changes, so you’re better off only relying on at the demos and documentation at WordPress.com.
Here’s the Funki demo and info that applies to your site:
My intent is to divide the main page into 2 columns where some posts will be displayed in the left one and some in the right one.
The columns that Funki uses with its page templates always put the posts in one column, with widgets in the other columns.
Here’s how the theme works with columns:
The theme offers four different and responsive layouts. From one column to three columns, all based on where you drag your widgets so you don’t have to set any special options, it just works. On top of that, all layouts are flexible so they adapt to smaller screens.
The two primary sidebars are labeled Right and Left, respectively. To change the layout put your widgets on the sidebar you wish to show. If no widgets are found, you will get a one column layout.
If you see an example of how you’d like your site to look in the demo on WordPress.com, just send me a link to the specific page and I’ll be glad to help you get it set up.
