How can i move my blog from wordpress.com to another host ?

i am in the process of moving my blog from being hosted at wordpress.com to having it at another host so that i can add plugins. I am having a hard time trying to find out how to get a copy of my database and files from wordpress.com. Everything i have been reading is that i do not have access to any of my stuff on wordpress.com and that i need to start fresh or i need FTP login.

Does anyone know what i need to do to get a copy of my database along with the files? Is this even possible? Thanks in advance
