manwithoutqualitiesMemberFolks, could someone tell me why on the homepage of this URL I get the other page titles and edit text listed? It should be blank!!! Any ideas what is going on?
Would be most grateful for any insight.
Cheers,
Leslie.
The blog I need help with is mediam.orgMay 17, 2013 at 8:47 pm #134600
MichelleHi Leslie,
If you go to Settings > Reading in your Dashboard, take a look at the first option, “Front Page Displays”. Your front page is currently set to display a static page, but you haven’t selected which pages should be your static front page and blog page. Once you make a selection, the problem should disappear.
Here’s some more information on setting up a static front page.

manwithoutqualitiesMembermichiecat – you are an absolute darling. Many thanks.
So as I understand it, I have to have a post (and not a page) to reflect the “welcome” blurb I want on the homepage, i.e. the basic URL, mediam.org.
Am I correct?
Cheers,
Leslie.

MichelleI’m glad to help! :)

It’s up to you. :) Setting your front page to display posts treats the front page like a blog, with one post appearing after the other. Setting the front page to display a static page treats it more like a website. So if you wanted to display a welcome blurb but nothing else under it on the front page, you can create a page to contain the message, and then set that page as the front page. You can then specify another page to serve as your blog page.
I hope this clarifies things! Let me know if you have any other questions.

manwithoutqualitiesMemberOne last question. Is there any way I can get the main nav bar on one line. It used to be that I could edit a detailed stylesheet but now there is a “float in” in window that has somewhat limited options. Cheers, Leslie.

manwithoutqualitiesMembermichiecat, heeeelp!!
I’ve accidentally deleted the css coding for my Nav Bar. I had it nicely set up on one line . . . Could you by any chance send me the original css for the Nav Bar.
Sorry for the imposition.
Cheers, Leslie.

Caroline MooreHowdy Leslie, and sorry for the delayed response. It looks as though you were able to resolve this issue — I see your menu items floating on one line again. Do you still need assistance?
If this happens again, you can find your Custom CSS revisions to the upper right when you open the Custom CSS panel, and from there you should be able to recover any deletions.
