    Hello All,

    If someone could offer me some assistance with some formatting issues (below) – it would be really appreciated (I’ve searched the forums and how-to’s but couldn’t find the answers I needed.)

    1. How do I get the title text in the header a different font/size to the titles of each post. I would love the title fonts to appear the same size/type as is shown on the sample On a Whim template. I noticed on the forum that there was an issue with this earlier so I’m not sure if it is the same issue? When I look at my header in the customisation section, the site title and the post titles are different fonts, but when it appears on my site, they are the same.

    2. How do I change the size wording of the comments box? At the moment it is HUGE and it also just says “Leave a Reply” and I’d love for it to say something more friendly.

    Thanks in advance.

    Emma

    P.S. I’ve read the CSS tutorials and still have no idea so if your answers involve this, please provide steps as if you are talking to a CSS-illiterate (which I am!) :)

    The blog I need help with is iquittv.com

    Sorry, just another question.

    I’ve noticed that when I view my page on other computers (at work! :) that it says the page has errors and it appears like it would on a mobile, with only one column etc. I think this computer has an older version of Explorer.

    But I’ve just noticed when reading through some other blogs that they all still appear perfectly, with multiple columns even though I’m using the same computer.

    Does anyone know what might be different/wrong with my blog that causes it to appear this way. It appears fine on my mac at home.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Emma,

    1. How do I get the title text in the header a different font/size to the titles of each post.

    When you use the customizer to select custom fonts, headings and the site title will take on the same font. (At one time there was a separate setting for each, but that’s no longer the case.)

    You can revert back to the default fonts for On a Whim by clicking the X next to the font name, as in this screenshot: https://cloudup.com/cpQZ5nY6uoA

    I’ll answer your other questions separately. If you have any other questions, please start a new thread for each one – thanks!

    At the moment it is HUGE and it also just says “Leave a Reply” and I’d love for it to say something more friendly.

    You can change that wording under Settings > Discussion. Scroll down to the section called “Comment Form” and you’ll see where you can make the change:

    2. How do I change the size wording of the comments box?

    You can try adding this to your custom CSS under Appearance > Customize > CSS:

    #comments .comments-title {
    font-size: 22px;
    }

    You can adjust the size as you like.

    I think this computer has an older version of Explorer.

    Could you please let me know what version of IE that computer is using? If you’re not sure, please visit http://supportdetails.com/ and copy what it says under Web Browser. Thanks.

    Hello Kathryn,

    Thank you so much for your help with this. Your responses are clear and easy to follow even for a clueless newbie like me. I’ve fixed up my font, comments box etc and love it – thank you!

    I’ll have to check about the version of IE as it was on a work computer. I’m pretty sure it is an older version but because it is on a work network, I will have no ability to change it. What caught my attention was the fact that my blog appeared strangely (e.g. one column only) but other blogs I follow appeared just the same as they would on my mac. I wondered what it might be about my settings that means that my blog doesn’t appear compatible with this older version?

    Anyway, I’ll find out the version and come back with this.

    Thanks again for your help, it is most appreciated.

    Hi Emma, glad you’ve gotten most of these issues sorted!

    I wondered what it might be about my settings that means that my blog doesn’t appear compatible with this older version?

    It could be that those other sites are using older themes. Newer themes that use “mobile-first” development principles unfortunately are not supported by older versions of Internet Explorer, usually IE8 or older, and may not appear as intended in those browsers.

    Hi Kathryn,

    Thank you, that must be it. I’ve confirmed that it is indeed IE8. O’well let’s just hope that work gets with the program one day! :)

    Tanks again for all of your help.
