    Sarah Jane Holden

    Hi,

    A couple questions I’m hoping I can work out with this theme…

    (1) Is it possible to insert a slideshow on the front page for the “featured image” instead of one static image?

    (2) Can you help me work out the code for bumping up the text on my content pages so that it appears directly below my featured image. I have a 1200 x 300 featured image on my content pages. BUT, I do want to keep the size of the featured image on the front page.

    (3) How do I completely delete the featured image space on content pages if I don’t want an image or title there at all? Even if I don’t insert an image, there is still a gap on the pages.

    (4) LAST, I tried to use the code for getting rid of the black menu bar on the mobile version (in another thread), but now all of my images are gone as well & the whole layout has changed. I wanted the menu to appear in the same place, but just be white instead of black-but now it’s at the top of my page & my images disappeared.

    Thanks so much for help with ALL of these issues. I’m learning….
    :)

    Hi Sarah!

    (1) Is it possible to insert a slideshow on the front page for the “featured image” instead of one static image?

    This is not possible with the Forefront theme; it was designed to display a static image only.

    (2) Can you help me work out the code for bumping up the text on my content pages so that it appears directly below my featured image. I have a 1200 x 300 featured image on my content pages. BUT, I do want to keep the size of the featured image on the front page.

    Sure, this CSS will reduce the amount of space between the main content and your featured image on single pages and posts:

    .content-area {
    padding-top: 0;
    }
    .sidebar-widget-area {
    padding-top: 48px;
    }

    You may need to adjust these numbers to suit your liking.

    (3) How do I completely delete the featured image space on content pages if I don’t want an image or title there at all? Even if I don’t insert an image, there is still a gap on the pages.

    The extra space will be removed when you apply the CSS I gave you above. But, to hide the featured area on a per-page or per-post basis, you first need to find the unique ID number of that post or page. You can do this by Viewing the Page Source in your browser (usually you can right click on the page and click “View Source” from the menu that pops up). Find the body tag, the one that looks similar to this:

    <body class="page page-id-36 page-template-default">

    The “page-id-36” is the unique ID for this page. This is the CSS you’d use to hide the featured area on this page only:

    .page-id-36 .hero {
    display: none;
    }

    Repeat these steps for each page or post where you want to hide the featured section. You can always add more pages or posts onto the same rule. For example:

    .page-id-36 .hero,
    .page-id-40 .hero,
    .postid-104 .hero {
    display: none;
    }

    Your site looks fine on mobile to me. It sounds like you might have been using our mobile theme when you saw the difference in layout and the menu at the top of the page. Was that the case? Let me know if you’re still having trouble with the mobile version of your site.

    You’re welcome! I’m glad you were able to work it out. :)

    I’ll mark this topic as resolved, but as always, feel free to start a new one if you have other questions.
