readytochangenowI got the slider to work showing the feature images, but when I go to the post the image is cut off. I have tried multiple fixes. Any suggestions?
The blog I need help with is breakingtherubberband.wordpress.comFebruary 27, 2012 at 5:09 pm #115069Featured Images will indeed get cut off on ThemeMin’s home page if they’re proportioned differently than than the home page featured post area. It’s a feature that keeps things neat and organized. If you’d like the image proportions consistent to the featured post area (172px x 129px) I recommend adding featured images that are 560px by 420px.
I hope that helps!

readytochangenowAlmost – the images I was attempting to add to ta sticky page showed up fine on the top slider, but when you clicked on the post the size increased and was cut off. The image in question was 400px by 300px.
February 28, 2012 at 4:00 pm #115123Sorry, yes, ThemeMin also crops images in single posts as well to keep everything in proportion to the layout. The single post image dimensions are 560 by 261 pixels.

readytochangenowThank you for following up – I am trying to hit a deadline and have set this aside for a couple of days – but I do still have some questions.
I use feature images on every post – for the past 3 months I have been formatting thme 300 x 300. I have noticed that they are cut off around the border.
I am still new enough that I didn’t undertand the answer of making them bigger to stop them from getting cut-off.
My second issue was adding photos to the slider – I actually redesigned the blog because I could not get the feature images on my sticky posts to work right – but the issue of having the images cut-off is still pretty big.
I need newbie language to fix :-)

philiparthurmoore@readytochangenow: I just took a look at all of ThemeMin’s post thumbnail sizes and it looks like a consistent thumbnail experience is lacking in the theme at the moment. Let me mull this over for a bit and touch base with you by tomorrow about whether or not this is something we can correct on our end, and if so, which image dimensions you should aim for. Thanks a ton for your patience!

philiparthurmoore@readytochangenow: I just want to give you an update and let you know that I’m still trying to think of the best solution for you here. I need to do a bit of testing with this and hopefully have a solution for you sooner than later. Cheers.

philiparthurmoore@readytochangenow: I’ve gone back and forth on this and we’ve decided to keep things as is in the theme. After looking into the original intent of the theme it wouldn’t make sense to change the features thumbnail dimensions because 1) images would be way too vertical without proper trimming and 2) the users who currently have the theme installed would be very negatively impacted by any code changes. The best I can suggest for you is to extend your images out to 830 pixels wide so that all areas accomodate them. Unfortunately I really don’t think you’re going to be able to get the exact same image view that you have in your featured carousel in your single post view because those images use different aspect ratios (4:3 and 2.14, respectively), so your best bet would be to extend your featured thumbnails out to 830 pixels wide (at least) or compromising a little bit of vertical space on single post images. Thanks for your patience with this and I’m really sorry we can’t switch the code around for you.

readytochangenowThank you – I don’t want you to switch the code. I just want to know the optimal size for my thumbnails. They are 300 x 300 and they are getting cut-off. What dimensions should I make them? How does making them bigger work?
My carousel photos are 400 x 300 – They are showing up fine – I changed what I was going to list there to make it work.
The only question is that I have 120 images that are 300 x 300. What size to I need to change them to so they show up? Both sizes – hieght and width.

readytochangenowThank you for all you do.
March 28, 2012 at 2:54 pm #116093Hi readytochangenow,
Looking at your current setup for the layout, if you change the image to 261px height and wide you can avoid the thumbnail being cut-off in the main column.
Does this answer to your question? Please let me know.

readytochangenowYes, yes, yes.
Hopefully I can change the size without reuploading and causing so many crawl errors that Webmaster explodes. At least I can do it right moving forward.
Thank all of you for your tenacity in answering my question. I appreciate all you do.
