    Hi.

    When i share my websites url on Facebook it makes an ugly link.
    It takes the image from the blogpicture instead of the front picture (which would make more sense in my case.)
    And it takes the text from the footer widget area.

    Can i change this and how?

    /Daneil

    The blog I need help with is hostdagarna.fi

    Hi Daniel,

    And it takes the text from the footer widget area.

    You can edit the default text that Facebook pulls, just by clicking into the text area. If you hover your mouse over it, it will turn yellow, as you can see in this screenshot:

    Facebook

    If you then click into the text, the text becomes editable and you can edit it exactly as you like.

    Before we delve further into this issue, let’s get your front-page settings fixed up, as they may be affecting the Facebook thumbnail.

    Here’s what they look like currently:

    When you select a static page as your front page, you also need to choose a specific page from the dropdown list, as I’ve circled in the screenshot above. Could you please select the page you’d like, and then save your settings?

    Let me know when you’re done and I’ll be glad to have another look at the Facebook thumbnail issue. Thanks.

    Thank you for the respons.

    I’m aware that I can change the defaulttext when i share on fb. But most of the people charing my site is not. So my question remains. Can I influence this in any way on my end?

    I’m also aware that the frontpagesettings looks a little strange, but it is a walkaround a limitation in the Theme. By default the Title of the Frontpage is displayed over the frontpic. So i just removed the title of the frontpage.

    So the frontpage have no title, and that is why it looks like that.

    No you can’t – it’s automated.

    If you had some text on your homepage – instead of it being empty – the Facebook sharing blurb would normally be pulled from the text there.

    Thanks for explaining, I see what you mean. Just so you know, an alternative way to hide the display of the page title on the front page is with some CSS, under Customize > CSS:

    .page-id-27 .page-title {
    display: none;
    }

    In terms of your image, the featured image on the Forefront homepage is too large to be scaled down well for use as a Facebook thumbnail, so the site’s Blavatar is pulled in instead.
