    Hello!

    I find I’m uncertain of the options for determining how an individual post appears on the home page. My questions are in two parts.

    1. Selecting the items that appear on the home page

    It appears that the most recent post appears on the home page, and a post set as “sticky” to remain on the home page stays there. However, there are a few posts that are quite old that still appear on the home page display. Is there any documentation or can a forum member clarify the rules under which items appear on the home page in the Newsy theme?

    2. Categories appear or don’t?

    It appears that when a post is set to sticky to appear on the home page, the list of categories assigned to that post _do not_ display. When a post appears on the home page because it is a recent post the list of categories _do appear_.

    Is it possible to suppress the list of categories that appear with each post so that they do not display? Specifically, if someone could point me in the right direction with the CSS style that control this display, so I could try to suppress it, that would be most welcome.

    Thanks so much for your help, and providing this useful forum for discussion.

    Thank you.

    1. Selecting the items that appear on the home page

    Without modification, your most recent posts will be displayed on the home page. You can control the number of posts that display by navigating to Settings → Reading and changing the value of “Blog pages show at most”. Currently, this setting is set to 10, but you only have 7 published posts. Which means that all posts will be displayed on the home page. Since your blog is rather new, you may want to consider changing the value of “Blog pages show at most” to a low number like 4 and then removing the “sticky” from all posts. This is meant as a short term solution until your blog has more posts.

    2. Categories appear or don’t?

    Categories will only appear in non-sticky posts. To hide them via css, you will first need the Custom Design upgrade and then you can use the following code:

    .home .entry-header .entry-meta {
    clip: rect(1px 1px 1px 1px); /* IE6, IE7 */
    clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);
    position: absolute !important;
    }

    Please let us know if you have any other questions!

    Hi insideslo,

    I’m just following up with you on this. Have you had a chance to try michaelfield’s suggestions? Please let me know if it worked for you, and I will mark this thread as resolved.

    @ insideslo

    I’ll mark this as resolved since we haven’t heard from you more than 2 weeks but if you have more question, please make a new thread. We’re happy to help further if you want.

    Thanks!
