Is there any way to remove the categories from showing on the Front Page where the Featured Posts show? Since the emphasis is on the photo and the title, the categories seem to just be cluttery: misspreservation.com. Thanks!

This does take away the categories, but it seems to mess up the formatting so that the intro test for the post cuts off in the middle of the letters in the second or third line.

That’s actually not caused by removing the categories. The text is always there but you didn’t see it because the categories pushed it down. Now, you removed them so you can see a part of text but it’s still too long for the space.
Your featured posts have long titles so the automated excerpts don’t fit in there. I would suggest to write a short custom excerpts for each post in the excerpt panel in the post edit page. If you don’t see the excerpt panel straight away, check the screen options on the right top of the admin.
