Sorry if I’m missing the obvious but I am totally not seeing how to add the social media icons to the header. Help!

The blog I need help with is totallycontent.net

Edit to my last question – I meant that I am trying to add social media icons to the main menu (as shown in the demo), not the header. Sorry for the confusion.

Hi there – did you manage to get this sorted out? I’m seeing links to Twitter and Facebook next to the menu:

Totally Content Making website owners happy

As it looks like you discovered, links to several social-media accounts can be added under Appearance > Customize > Theme Options.

Just let me know if you’re all set!

Yes, I finally figured out how to add them; however, I had to edit my navigation labels to have fewer characters because they started wrapping when I added the icons. Is there a way to avoid that? Thanks!

Hi there, do you mean that the menu went onto two lines so it wouldn’t overlap with the social-media buttons? The only way I can think of to avoid that might be to reduce the size of the menu text, but then that might make them harder to read on some screens. Another option could be to reposition the icons so they’re below the menu instead of to the right.

Learning how to target your site’s CSS will help you make certain design changes like the ones I mentioned above. Here are some very helpful posts that will help you customize your site with CSS:

If CSS is new to you, we also have some resources for learning more about it here:

You can learn more about using media queries that target certain screen sizes here:

Just let me know if you need further help.

Thanks for following up – I haven’t had a chance to dig into the CSS yet but I’ll let you know if I have more questions when I do.
